Healing Arts Massage Therapy

Aromatherapy

The ancient art of using plant essences in massage or by inhalation, to aid in healing and tending to the mind, body and soul.

Aromatherapy is the gentle, yet powerful use of essential oils in a therapeutic manner, aiding and tending to the mind, body and soul. Taking this further, essential oils are concentrated essences distilled and extracted from various parts of plants such as the roots, flowers, bark, grasses, leaves, seeds, fruit, peels and needles. Specific components are found in oils and their uses are varied.

The most common use of these naturally balanced and wonderfully holistic oils is through massage. They need to be diluted in a good quality carrier oil, lotion or cream then massaged into the affected area of the body.

For inhalation, using a diffuser, spray mister, hot bath or sauna - or simply a drop or two of the oil on a tissue - is an effective way to deliver the desired benefits.

Often, bottled fragrances are not pure essential oils. These are for scent only, not for physiological use. Before using any essential oil product, always consult with someone qualified in the area of aromatherapy that takes the time and effort and does the needed research for you.

Scent is one of the most pleasurable experiences and directly affects our mind, body and soul. Aromatherapy takes that experience and applies it to our health and well being.
